Science Lab Research Container

This was an end of semester project which started as a university master plan group project and ended with our own planned site.

My concept was simple it spoke to the vulnerability and ever changing essence of science and technology. The play of a container being stable and sturdy vs the unstable and always changing experiments and research that would happen within these labs. Universities are vibrant and living places soaking up knowledge every hour, so the building was to stay very transparent and to speak a language that other students on campus could read. The semi-transparent double skin pushes the private public sector while the lighting pattern becomes a new language that speaks to onlookers passing by. The more dense the lighting pattern the closer a student was to a new breakthrough.
