Intrepid Sea-Air-Space Museum

After being retired in 1974 Zachary Fisher established the Intrepid Museum Foundation for the sole purpose of saving the historic aircraft carrier. The renovation was to create a world-class museum environment within the hanger deck.

The contemporary exhibit was given the illusion of floating within the space as to preserve the largest artifact, the Intrepid itself. The main concept of our design was not just to describe the history of the carrier but rather explain and exhibit the human side and the hardware aspect of the ship’s life at sea. Each side of the hanging exhibit explains an aspect of the concept while the wall itself has openings and transparency to explain the connection and blend of the two characteristics that best sum up the ships life and soul.
